The odd card is partially removed from the packet, and the stick is placed through the holes. When the spectator tries to push the odd card back into the packet, they can't. After the stick is removed, the spectator successfully pushes the card in.

But here's the twist—after a magical pass, the spectator is asked to push the card into the pack again, only this time, the card goes all the way in, with the stick still in place. The magician removes the top and bottom three cards from the stick, leaving the odd card attached to it!
